SURFIDE, FLORIDA — The ruins of a partially collapsed condo building were demolished on Sunday night, allowing search and rescue operations to restart.
On June 24, the Champlain Towers South partially collapsed. After the initial hours following the collapse, no survivors had been found. The remains of 24 people had been recovered at the time of the demolition, while 121 people were still missing.

On Saturday afternoon, search and rescue operations were halted so that the structure could be prepped for demolition. Authorities hoped that by razing the structure, more space would be available for search and rescue workers to look for the remains of the missing people.
