Joe Rogan’s interview with a defector from North Korea has been dubbed his “best episode ever.”

The North Korean defector sat down with the podcaster to discuss her traumatic life in the Hermit Kingdom, including the hardships she faced, the horrors she observed, and her brave escape.

The more than three-hour interview is not for the faint of heart, as she goes into great detail on the realities inside the world’s most secretive country.

Yeonmi commented about the massive amounts of famine that exist in sections of North Korea in one portion.

“As a child, the hardest thing for me was when my mother went shopping for food. We don’t have phones or letters since we don’t have them. If I say goodbye to her, I don’t know when or if I’ll see her again,” she explained.

“Because she could have been murdered, raped, and starved to death.”

She claimed she was never trained to feel sorry for all the bodies she saw every day strewn about the place.
