A Minneapolis church went up in smoke and flames Tuesday evening. The firefighters were summoned to intervene in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Polish National Catholic Church somewhere around 7 p.m.
It was a scary event since there were still people inside when the fire came out of nowhere, but luckily, they were immediately evacuated.
However, the roof and tower of the century-old building collapsed, while the interior suffered some pretty heavy damage.
“Because of the construction of the church, the fire spread quickly into the attic area and it eventually burned through the roof, so, unfortunately, we weren’t able to save this one,” Minneapolis Fire Department Chief Bryan Tyner stated.
“It’s going to be a total loss, but we were able to avoid any loss of life or any injuries.”
Michael Kutek, the son of the pastor has already made an effort to help the church despite the unfortunate event, creating a GoFundMe page, and here’s the link if you want to make a donation.
