On January 11, Mayor Muriel Bowser on Twitter reminded the residents that they had to take with them the walking papers. The law starts to be effective on January 15. The walking papers are the vaccination papers.
On December 22, 2021, Mayor Bowser issued an executive order that mandates the vaccine for every person older than 12.

According to the mayor’s order, the covered establishments and facilities are restaurants, nightclubs, indoor entertainment establishments, and indoor event and meeting establishments.
Only houses of worship, grocery stores and big-box stores, pharmacies, urgent care centers/hospitals, etc., were omitted from the vaccine mandate.
The deadline is approaching, so the mayor reminded the citizens:
“Remember that starting Saturday, you will need these three things before heading out:
Proof of Vaccination (12 years +)
Proof of Vaccination and Photo ID (18 years +)

Many people poked fun at the fact that we need these papers and a valid form of photo I.D., emphasizing the talking point frequently brought up by Dems that matters like the need of I.D. for voting is racist.
Tea Party Patriots highlighted the double standard: “You’ll need an I.D. to go inside a McDonald’s in D.C., but not to vote…Beyond parody.”
Beth Baumann also commented. “Since you’re okay with showing a photo I.D. to get into a restaurant, you support I.D.s for voting, right?”
