Democrats are well aware that if they reverse an election and snatch a House seat from Republicans in Iowa, they will face serious consequences.
Jen Psaki, the White House press secretary, was asked about this issue and the White House’s stance on Republicans questioning Nancy Pelosi’s decision to launch an investigation into a Republican candidate who defeated a Democrat candidate by six or seven votes late last week. Jen Psaki, the White House press secretary, said Friday that the Biden administration supports House Democrats’ attempt to reverse the outcome of an Iowa House election. The race has already been approved by bipartisan state election officials after several recounts.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has given her approval for the House Administration Committee to consider defeated candidate Rita Hart’s request to reverse the results of the Iowa 2nd Congressional District election, which was won by freshman Republican Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks by six votes.
During a White House press conference, a reporter questioned about how four Republican senators described the fight to reclaim the seat as a “unacceptable effort to undermine a legitimate Democratic process” in a letter to corporations. “Does the president concur with their findings?”
“I assume that the procedure outlined by the House of Representatives is what is being followed here to ensure that every vote is counted,” Psaki said.
