“As you and I have spoken before, Mr. Ambassador,” Biden said to Polish President Andrzej Duda. “Excuse me, Mr. President.”
“The single most important we can do from the outset is keep the democracies united,” he added.
President Biden is meeting with President Andrzej Duda of Poland and officials in charge of the Ukraine humanitarian response. At a precarious time in Europe when Biden is currently serving as America’s top diplomat, even the pettiest lapses betray a lack of focus and grasp of the volatile European situation.
President Biden also addressed soldiers in the Army’s 82nd Airborne while in Poland and made a concerning statement implying they would be going to Ukraine.
Watch:
“You’re going to see when you’re there, you’re going to see women, young people standing in the middle, in the front of a damn tank saying ‘I’m not leaving,’ I’m holding my ground. They’re incredible.”
Biden also made a comparison between Ukraine and Tianenman Square, the 1989 incident when a brave soldier stood up to a tank in Communist China.
BIDEN: "When you see a 30-year-old woman standing there in front of a tank with a rifle…I mean, talk about what happened in Tiananmen Square…that's Tiananmen Square squared." pic.twitter.com/30j8dvLfDL
