Spike Lee, a fiercely leftist Hollywood director and activist, said this week that he believes the globe is “controlled by criminals” like former President Donald Trump, whom he refers to as “Agent Orange.”
While answering questions at the 74th Cannes Film Festival, where he is a jury member, Lee attacked Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in response to a question on Russian oppression from a Georgian reporter.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lee stated, “This world is ruled by gangsters – Agent Orange [Donald Trump], the guy in Brazil [president Jair Bolsinaro], and [Russian president Vladimir] Putin.”
“They’re gangsters, and they’ll do whatever they want. He stated, “They have no morals and no scruples.” “And we have to speak out against such gangsters.”
Lee boldly claimed last month while accepting an award from the New York Film Critics Circle that “President Agent Orange would go down in history with the likes of Hitler.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lee remarked, “The whole world is laughing at the United States of America, the so-called cradle of democracy.”
“We’ve arrived at a fork in the road, and everyone please be careful. This isn’t a game at all.
