This Is Why The Alliance Hasn’t Acted Yet!

Members say that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization is scrambling to invoke Article 4 of the alliance charter as the war started in Europe.

The Russian troops still conquer Ukraine, but NATO members say that Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia asked for a general security consultation.

The alliance’s Washington Treaty allowed the immediate defense of member states under Article 5, but threats outside of the coalition’s territory must be addressed by other means first.

Because Ukraine isn’t in NATO, they aren’t eligible for the alliance’s immediate aid.

Article 4 is invoked to address Russian aggression and has been called on a few times in history.

The Russian-Ukraine invasion escalated in a few hours. Concerns were sparked when Russian troops started appearing in neighboring Belarus during a November 2021 buildup.

The military movements were seen laying the groundwork for an invasion of Ukraine. The concern came when Russia issued a set of security demands to NATO.

Putin wants all ex-Soviet states to be barred from entry into the alliance.

NATO rejected this, stating that Ukraine’s potential membership was a matter only for member states. International talks among the world leaders and Putin were unsuccessful, and they couldn’t stop Putin.

Biden introduced the threat of sanction, but the conversation of coordination between China and Russia hinted that any economic weapon would be blunted.

China’s industrial capacity and land border with Russia would be Russia’s biggest asset in the face of the US sanctions.

The crisis started on Monday when Putin recognized Donetsk and Luhansk in Ukraine as an independent.

Ukraine said that Russian military help makes it a daunting task. Three days after declaring independence, Putin entered Ukraine with armor and air assets. Biden and NATO were silent beyond token statements of support.

The war eruption is something shocking to happen in the 21st century.

We will see what is about to happen.
