At the very beginning of this week, House Representatives Anna Eshoo (D-CA) and Jerry McNerney (D-CA) sent a letter to few cable operators and streaming services. Both of them have a strong place, being senior members of the House Energy and House Subcommittee on Communications and Technology. In this letter, they were questioning the ethical principles of few networks, among which was apparently also Fox News.

To be strict, they are afraid of the impact the fake news propaganda is actually doing on the American citizens. It is not only politics we are being lied about – these are much greater aspects that intact every single aspect of our everyday normal lives.

“Some purported news outlets have long been misinformation rumor mills and conspiracy theory hotbeds that produce content that leads to real harm,” it is stated in part of the letter. “Misinformation on TV has led to our current polluted information environment that radicalizes individuals to commit seditious acts and rejects public health best practices, among other issues in our public discourse.”

Furthermore:

“Have you taken any adverse actions against a channel, including Fox News, Newsmax, and OANN, for using your platform to disseminate disinformation related directly or indirectly to the November 3, 2020 elections, the January 6, 2021 Capitol insurrection, or COVID-19 misinformation?”

Fox News is in quite a bad position here.
