SCOTUS Lifts Restrictions For In-Home Religious Gatherings

The United States Supreme Court struck down California Governor Gavin Newsom’s prohibitions on people gathering from separate homes for religious reasons on Friday evening, ruling in favor of repealing the restrictions.
Chief Justice John Roberts dissenting but not signing the dissenting statement submitted by justices Elena Kagan, Sonia Sotomayor, and Stephen Breyer, the court voted 5-4. What a knucklehead.

By 5-4 vote (Chief and three liberals in dissent), Supreme Court yesterday overturned Ninth Circuit's failure to grant an injunction against California covid order forbidding worship service in home. https://t.co/eyjy7oI3oJ

This is undoubtedly a victory for the American people, but it is not a victory for Democrats. Meanwhile, California continues to outperform other states in many areas, including self-destruction. It was once a truly great state, even a model for others, but it is now a total disaster, thanks to the liberal political class in particular. Recalling Newsom will be a small but significant move forward for California.
Maybe I’ve been living under a rock, but I’ve been telling my podcast listeners that Democrats aren’t going to quit until they win. I had no idea that the Ninth Circuit’s review of California coronavirus restrictions had been dismissed by the Supreme Court five years before.
“Otherwise, precautions that suffice for other activities suffice for religious exercise too,” the majority opinion states, adding that California “treats some comparable secular activities more favorably than at-home religious exercise, permitting hair salons, retail stores, personal care services, movie theaters, private suites at sporting events and concerts, and indoor dining a la carte,” according to the ruling.
Thank Trump for appointing a new conservative Supreme Court majority. In this nation, “progressive” judicial progressives have long held the “Joe Biden” view that no Constitutional Amendment is absolute, and instead promoted and taught numerous intellectual games that they play to justify whatever outcome they like. It’s encouraging to see the pendulum begin to swing back and credit Trump with what could be his most lasting legacy.
Beginning in June, protesters in California were granted free reign to demonstrate outside or within in groups of any size, with the blessing of the county, state, and local governments, although religious gatherings were prohibited.
There were over 1,000 protest gatherings outdoors and indoors in California from June 15 to July 15. None were stopped as Covid surged for the first time since being controlled in California in July. This is the fact that our media refuses to report. According to the Constitution, the government cannot pick and choose which meetings to support or prohibit. This is what they did for months in California.
When and if we do have a Republican President and a majority Republican Senate again, I propose that SCOTUS nominations and assignments within the 9th Circuit Judicial appointments be given top priority.
It is grossly unfair to Western people that we are now forced to live with 9th Circuit Judges who do not see it as their responsibility to ensure that our laws and constitution are respected and enforced – as has been shown time and time again by 9th Circuit Judges breaking our laws and Constitution. Citizens can never be in any doubt that their justice system is committed to upholding the law and the constitution.
This, in my opinion, is a win for the rule of law and our Constitution. For the first time in decades, we have a plurality of Justices who ensure that our rules and Constitution are followed – and that is something we should be thankful for.
Although I am pleased that “Faith prevailed,” it is more important to me that our laws and Constitution are implemented correctly. Thank you so much. Justices Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Coney-Barrett are the members of the Supreme Court.
