Republicans Want an Unfiltered Transcript of Biden’s Phone Discussion With Fugitive Afghan President Hamid Karzai

On Thursday, Sept. 2, a group of Republican legislators wrote to President Joe Biden, requesting the complete, unedited transcript of his phone conversation with exiled Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in July. On August 15th, Kabul departed the country, and the Taliban were able to take control of the city without opposition.

Only weeks before the Taliban terrorist organization took control of Kabul, the two presidents spoke on the phone for the last time on July 23. During their 14-minute phone conversation, neither Biden nor Ashraf Ghani appeared to recognize or prepare for the immediate possibility of the entire country falling into insurgent hands, according to reports.

The information was revealed after a transcript of Biden’s last conversation with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani was released.

“Whether it is real or not, there is a need to portray a different picture,” Biden told Ghani in July, pressing him to broadcast a picture that suggested Taliban terrorists were not gaining control of significant areas of Afghanistan.

In July, Biden persuaded Ghani to adopt a new military strategy, releasing the details at a press conference with important Afghan leaders in order to “alter perceptions.”

“I suppose I don’t have to tell you that the view across the world and in parts of Afghanistan is that things aren’t going well in terms of the war against the Taliban.

Representative Claudia Tenny (R-NY) led a group of 27 House Republicans in requesting Biden’s response to a letter accusing the administration of delivering “a series of false assurances” to Americans and Afghan friends about the situation in Afghanistan before US troops left Kabul.

The letter, acquired by the Daily Caller, states, “The difference between your Administration’s official spin and the reality on the ground exposed a befuddling lack of cohesion, strategy, and fundamental transparency.”
“It appears that your government is suppressing the facts and misrepresenting the American people on a regular basis. On August 31, additional evidence surfaced demonstrating that this is precisely what you have been doing since the start of this operation,” the lawmaker stated.

“This is an oath you have never kept,” the congressman said, referring to recordings obtained by Reuters showing Biden vowing to provide air support to the Afghan army.

“This dreadful call severely erodes your reputation and the American people’s faith in you. You used the word’perception’ four times in transcripts from Reuters calls with Ghani, which is troubling. The focus is on

“It looks that your government is systematically hiding facts and deceiving the American people. Additional evidence came on August 31 proving that this is exactly what you have been doing since the beginning of this operation,” the lawmaker remarked.

“You have never maintained an oath,” the lawmaker remarked, referring to audio acquired by Reuters that show Biden promising to offer air support to the Afghan army.
“This heinous call significantly tarnishes your reputation and undermines the American people’s trust in you. In transcripts from Reuters calls with Ghani, you used the word’perception’ four times, which is concerning.

After Ghani stepped down, Afghanistan’s Vice President, Amrullah Saleh, stayed in the country. He stated on Twitter on August 17 that he will continue to serve as the country’s “caretaker president,” as established by the country’s 2004 constitution.

After that, he vowed to fight the Taliban alongside Ahmed Shah Masood, the son of a former Panjshir Valley anti-Soviet jihadist commander.
