Biden administration suggests that the child migrant detention centers should be open with 100% capacity due to increased border crisis.
Centers for Disease Control CDC approved this step.

They removed the previously imposed measure that included 50% of the capacity due to the coronavirus measures.
Axios reported:
“The fact that the country’s premier health advisory agency is permitting a change in COVID-19 protocols indicates the scale of the immigration crisis,”
“Shelters have been getting an average of 321 children per day — up from 47 per day the first week of January — and expect to need 20,000 beds to accommodate an anticipated record number of child migrants.”
In a CDC draft memo, we can see that the border situation is worsened. And the officials must be prepared for increased numbers of child migrants. They must provide the needed capacity at the facilities for these children.
“At this time, CBP does not have adequate space for physical distancing, quarantine of persons exposed to COVID-19 or isolation of ill or infected persons.”
Axios published the report on Friday. It happened at the same time when we heard that the Biden administration considered renaming the facilities to help the administration control the situation’s public relations side.
Besides Axios, Examiner also reported:
“Biden officials are considering naming the facilities’ reception centers,’ according to three people familiar with the discussions, on the logic that the name sounds less harsh,”
“The name would distinguish the facilities, one of which has been set up in Carrizo Springs, Texas, from existing structures maintained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Department of Health and Human Services’s Office of Refugee Resettlement.'”
Examiner took a statement from one of the officials:
“These facilities are going up, but they’re being utilized differently. The direction is very clear. Release them as fast as possible. If you can’t receive [migrants] from a Border Patrol station, then release them right there, do it. If that area gets overcrowded, they’re giving instruction to ICE to then bus them further into the interior of the United States.”
The southern border is critical, and this crisis escalated to the degree that Democratic lawmakers ring the alarm.
Representative Vincente Gonzales (D-TX) stated that Biden’s immigration plan is the crisis’s causer.
According to Vincente Gonzales:
”The border crisis will be catastrophic for our party. Also for our country, for my region, for my district, in the middle of a pandemic, in an area where we’ve lost over 3,000 people in my small congressional district.”
