Rep. Adam Schiff With Amendment To NDAA Suspending Congressional Oversight Of Military For Domestic Deployment! ‘’Martial Law’’ Bill!

Corrupt California Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff, the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence chairman, tried to sneak through his power grab.

The Democrats want to include an amendment that would suspend Congressional oversight of the military and National Guard for investigation or court proceedings.

“Schiff files amendment to NDAA that would conceal any info collected by the U.S. military for use in congressional investigations or court proceedings,” American Greatness Senior writer Julie Kelly shared.

“Massive attempted coverup of enormous proportions and preemptive power grab to prevent GOP oversight next year.”

“This un-American amendment will fundamentally and irreparably erode Congress’ constitutional oversight responsibility,” Rep. Elise Stefanik of New York stated. “House Democrats led by Adam Schiff are attempting to cover up for the national security crises of the weakest commander in chief in U.S. history.”

The Washington Times has more details.

The exemption from congressional oversight is narrowly focused on the domestic deployment of troops, but Mr. Schiff’s free pass for the Pentagon could impact a range of oversight from border security to the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol.

Mr. Schiff, California Democrat, first introduced the measure in 2020. He cited then-President Trump’s proposal, which he never carried out, to deploy the U.S. Army to quell social justice riots that were ravaging cities across the country.

Advocates touted the Schiff measure as a bill that would suppress evidence obtained by the military during unlawful deployment domestically.

The Brennan Center for Justice was among dozens of groups to back the measure. They said it would “establish clear consequences to deter the government” from wrongfully deploying the military in civil law enforcement situations under a law known as the Posse Comitatus Act.

The 1878 law prohibits the Army or Air Force from enforcing U.S. laws unless authorized by the Constitution or Congress.

Transparency advocates say Mr. Schiff’s proposal, which would suppress evidence and expand the act to all military branches, is overly broad and goes too far in shielding the military from scrutiny. It could also block Republicans in Congress from planned oversight of the Biden administration.

“Though Schiff failed to pass his amendment in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2022 (H.R. 4350), he’s managed to slip it into the new NDAA 2023 (H.R. 7900) that has just passed the House and will now move to the Senate,” Infowars emphasized.

Roll Call reported:

The House on Thursday passed, 329-101, its version of the fiscal 2023 National Defense Authorization Act, which would authorize $840.2 billion in national defense spending, after sifting through hundreds of amendments and hours of debate.

The sprawling Pentagon policy bill, which has been enacted into law every year for the past 61 years, would authorize funds for the Defense Department and national security programs within the Department of Energy.

“As the legislative process continues, I thank my House colleagues for their thoughtful contributions and support of this year’s NDAA. There’s a lot to be proud of in this bill, and the stakes for our country’s national security could not be higher,” said House Armed Services Chairman Adam Smith, D-Wash., in a press release following the bill’s passage.

The Senate will take up its version of the annual defense policy bill.
