We’ve told you how Jones screamed at his parks director, Beckey Kelley, so harshly she thought he was about to physically attack her, then humiliated her by stripping away her authority, reassigning her, and trying to make her work out of a windowless storage room.”

“We’ve told you how Jones described another white employee as a, quote, “white bastard who’s nothing more than a racist and needs to go.” And we’ve told you how a federal judge was so appalled by what Jones did that he announced that if a jury failed to find him guilty of racial discrimination, he would throw the verdict out. Oh, here’s another fun fact. It’s not racism, but still pretty funny: While he was CEO of DeKalb, Jones gave himself a five-man security detail costing the taxpayer $800,000 per year.

That’s Vernon Jones, the racist and wasteful CEO of DeKalb County. But there’s another even darker side to Vernon Jones, Vernon Jones the sexual predator. As it turns out, Vernon Jones has victimized many women throughout his life, but today we’re going to focus on one case in particular, from 2004. Late that year, Vernon Jones raped a woman during a party at his house.

That case never went to trial, not because he was innocent, but because Vernon Jones’s corrupt administration and corrupt police department successfully covered it up by intimidating the victim. And we know that because we interviewed a prosecutor who was there for the whole thing. Our executive producer Lauren Witzke tracked down and spoke with Antje Kingma, former senior deputy district attorney with the DeKalb County sex crimes unit. In 2005, Kingma was brought in to help Jones’s victim. We spoke with her for more than 30 minutes.”
