Sen. Rand Paul said he wants Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Mark Milley to testify “under polygraph” before the Senate Armed Services Committee.
Milley’s remarks come amid charges in two Washington Post reporters’ upcoming book, “Peril,” that he went behind President Donald Trump’s back to have conversations with his Chinese military counterpart without alerting the commander-in-chief.

Milley also allegedly informed People’s Liberation Army Gen. Li Zuocheng on Oct. 30 and Jan. 8 that the US would not attack, but that if former President Donald Trump decided to strike, he would let him know ahead of time.
Paul told Blaze Media founder Glenn Beck, “I think Gen. Milley is the most serious matter of the moment.”
“We can’t have generals talking to foreign countries and saying, ‘Hey, we think our president is going to bomb you, so be ready; I’m going to attempt to stop him.’ That may result in an unintentional war, Paul speculated.
“Think about it: we send various objects into space on a regular basis. Satellites, this and that, and they could be mistaken for a missile,” Paul added.
“If that’s the case, we’ll phone each other and say, ‘No, that’s a satellite, not a missile.’
“However, what if a general merely contacted the Chinese ruler and said, ‘Our president is likely to launch, I’ll try to stop him, but we believe he will launch an attack,’” Paul remarked.
“They might misinterpret a satellite, or any other type of launch into space, as a missile, and then you’ve got a nuclear war on your hands. He described it as “very risky.”
Paul went on to say that there are more significant ethical problems about Milley supposedly operating behind Trump’s back before requesting that the four-star general testify before Congress.
“We have a command structure in place. Not to mention the fact that elections are coming up. Presidents are chosen by the people. Paul stated, “Milley was not elected president.”
“I can’t even begin to tell you how hazardous this is. He ought to be called in today and questioned under oath about what he said to the Chinese president or his equivalent in China, as well as whether or not he received permission to do so,” he said.
In a statement, Trump slammed Milley, saying that if the book is true, Milley should be held accountable for his crimes.
“If the story of ‘Dumba**’ General Mark Milley, the same failed leader who engineered the worst withdrawal from a country in US history, Afghanistan, leaving behind many dead and wounded soldiers, many American citizens, and $85 billion worth of the world’s most advanced military equipment, as well as our country’s reputation, is true, then I assume he would be tried for TREASON. That’s impossible!” Earlier this week, Trump stated.
