President Trump issued two statements on Friday afternoon in response to Facebook’s suspension of him for two years or longer. Trump said the suspension was an insult to the 75 million Americans who voted for him in last year’s presidential election in his first comment. In the second, he hinted at a White House run in 2024 by suggesting he would not grant Mark Zuckerberg’s dinner demands the next time he is in the White House.

“Facebook’s decision is an insult to the record-breaking 75 million individuals who voted for us in the 2020 Rigged Presidential Election, as well as many others. They shouldn’t be allowed to get away with censorship and silence, and we’ll triumph in the end. This is too much for our country to bear.

Today, we are announcing new enforcement protocols to be used in unusual circumstances like this, as well as confirming the time-bound penalty that will be levied to Mr. Trump’s accounts in accordance with those guidelines. Given the seriousness of the events that led to Mr. Trump’s suspension, we believe his actions amounted to a serious violation of our rules, deserving of the harshest penalty available under the new enforcement guidelines. We are suspending his accounts for a period of two years, beginning on January 7th of this year.
We’ll look to specialists at the end of this period to see if the threat to public safety has subsided. We’ll assess external factors.
If Mr. Trump commits other infractions in the future, a stringent set of quickly rising consequences, up to and including permanent removal of his pages and accounts, will be triggered when the suspension is eventually lifted…
Unlike Twitter, which removed Trump’s account when he was banned on January 6, Facebook has kept his page up. The most recent posts are Trump’s January 6 appeal for peace and respect for police officers.
“We need your help to support our Capitol Police and Law Enforcement. They are truly on our country’s side. “Remain calm!”
“I’m requesting that everyone at the United States Capitol remain calm. There will be no violence! Remember, we are the Party of Law and Order, therefore follow the rules.
