According to Move.org, Florida was the most popular relocation destination for Americans in 2020. In the competition to see which states had the most people choose to leave, New York and California came in first and second.

Justin Pearson is a 27-year-old Target distribution center truck loader. Pearson had lived in Hemet, California, for 22 years before moving to Riverside for another three years until drastic policy changes and growing costs of living made it difficult for him to live alone. He also said that he would never be able to afford to buy his own home. He escaped to Lake City, Florida, in order to survive at all.

While the national average is 1.07 percent, Floridians pay 0.83 percent, and Californians pay even less—0.73 percent. Pearson, on the other hand, claims that the benefits of lower property taxes in California are outweighed by the expense of everything else. Furthermore, Florida is one of only nine states in the country without a state income or wage tax.

“A lot of firms closed because of the COVID restrictions,” Pearson told The Epoch Times. “As a result, there was an upsurge in homelessness. The governor then implemented a zero-bail policy and an early-release program, causing the crime rate to soar. Gas taxes have been increased. The expense of living was so expensive that you couldn’t make ends meet.

Pearson told The Epoch Times that the COVID limits caused a lot of firms to shutter. “As a result, homelessness has risen. The governor then established a zero-bail policy and an early-release program, which resulted in a dramatic increase in crime. There are now gas taxes. You couldn’t get by since the expense of living was so expensive.

6.1 percent is the national average.

Florida’s state emergency unemployment benefits are scheduled to expire, and DeSantis has declined to extend the federally subsidized unemployment benefits worth an additional $300 a week. Despite this, Florida’s jobless rate is 4.8 percent.

Pearson claimed that California’s high unemployment caused an increase in homelessness, which had already been exacerbated by Newsom’s 2017 mental health budget cuts, which left mentally ill people who would have been treated wandering the streets.

“You can go around and find trash, needles, and feces on every corner,” Pearson added. “It’s revolting.”

Pearson also mentioned how illegal immigrants are flowing into California, despite the governor’s inaction.

“In reality, he handed them stimulus paychecks using our tax dollars,” Pearson said.

In California, Pearson, who organized back-to-the-blue protests, said it was becoming too hazardous for Republicans to speak out for what they believed in.

Pearson recounted, “People would come up and assault us.” “However, they’d get away with it because of the zero-dollar bail policy. California is simply a difficult place to live, and I don’t see that improving anytime soon unless Californians start making better voting decisions.”

Pearson’s sentiments are widely shared.
