Caron Nazario, a U.S Navy officer, and a second lieutenant in the Army filed a lawsuit against two Virginia police officers.
He stated that in early December, both of them violated his basic constitutional rights during a traffic stop in the town of Windsor.
The whole incident was caught on the body camera and published by The Associated Press.
The officers order Nazario to get out of his vehicle, to which he responds, “I’m honestly afraid to get out.”
“Yeah, you should be!” one of the officers can be heard saying.
Crocker reportedly labeled it a “high-risk traffic stop,” as he claimed the driver was “eluding police.”
However, Nazario started something completely different. That he was driving home from his duty station and wanted to stop in a well-lit area “for officer safety and out of respect for the officers.”
In the lawsuit, it is argued that the license plate of the vehicle was totally visible, there were no signs of alcohol, or drug abuse and maleficient behavior on the side of Nazario, but that didn’t stop the officers to immediately point their guns at him, making him get out of the car.
Nazario can be heard in the footage attempting to talk to the officers as they repeatedly tell him to get out of the car.
“I have not committed any crime,” the Army officer says in the video, to which one of the officers shouts, “You’re being stopped for a traffic violation. You’re not cooperating, and at this point, right now, you’re under arrest. … You’re being detained for obstruction of justice.”
Wow! What a “criminal” they’ve encountered and dealt with!
And who will be chasing the real ones?
