New Poll Finds 72 Percent Of GOP Voters Want Republican Party To Be More Like Trump Going Forward

He is also seen by Republican voters as the party’s potential. This is known to Democrats and it frightens them.
A Rasmussen Reports survey released Thursday revealed that nearly three-quarters of Republican voters believe the GOP should be “more like former President Trump” going forward.
Debate among Republicans has continued to rage over the direction the party should go in following the presidency of Trump. Trump blasted Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell this week (R-KY),
“With political ‘leaders’ like Sen. Mitch McConnell at his helm, the Republican Party can never again be respected or strong,” Trump said in a statement. Although McConnell did not vote to convict Trump, in a speech Saturday, he criticized the president. A recent Politico/Morning Consult poll found that his favorability stands at 18 percent.
The recent survey by Rasmussen, taken February 16-17, 2020, among 1,000 likely U.S. voters, revealed that establishment Republicans still have a problem, as a majority of Republican voters feel that the party should continue to go down the road set out by the former president.
"Which of these statements is closer to your belief: "Donald Trump is still the kind of leader the Republican Party needs," or "Republicans need to get away from the legacy of Donald Trump"?"
