“After the 2022 midterm elections, former President Trump is expected to have a role with Republicans, but the magnitude of the role will depend on whether Trump runs for president in 2024, Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.),” the senior Republican member of the House of Representatives said.

The 2022 midterm elections are expected to result in Republican gains in the House of Representatives and the Senate.
“I expect him to have a role,” says McCarthy. “He’s helping us a lot right now, and I believe that’s great for our campaign. And I’m confident that the president will always be in the spotlight when it comes to policy.”
He went on to say that “President Trump’s influence on the party will be determined by whether or not the former president runs for president a third time after winning and losing the election the first time. McCarthy explained that the answer to this question would depend on whether or not he decides to run for office.”
Former President Trump will meet with Republicans, including members of Congress, at a Dallas fundraiser in April, according to a statement from McCarthy.
After the midterm elections, Trump said he will decide whether or not to compete for re-election in 2024.
