McConnell Rips Biden Saying He ‘Owns’ Border Crisis

When it came to Joe Biden’s handling of the border issue, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell did not mince words this week.

In a Fox News interview, McConnell claimed clearly that Biden “owns” the border crisis and that “it is, by definition, an emergency.”

“When you send the Federal Emergency Management Agency, which only responds to emergencies, down to the border, that is my idea of a crisis,” McConnell said.

“It’s an emergency by definition. This administration also departed from the previous administration’s strategy of bargaining with the Mexican government over the detention of citizens on the other side of the border, he said.

“It (Biden administration policy) makes the influx into our country, and then they get caught up in the system, which will essentially remain a catch-and-release strategy under this administration,” McConnell added.

“Of course, we want to look after the children, but this is about a lot more than that. This is about the federal government’s ability to keep the border under control.

The previous administration did an outstanding job on border security; this administration is preventing funding for the wall, as an example. How is that helpful?” He posed the question rhetorically.

“Are you going to break the deal with the Mexican government to keep people on the other side of the border under control? “How does that help?” he questioned.

He declared, “This is a crisis.” “It’s a disaster, no matter what the Secretary of Homeland Security calls it.”

This current crisis was sparked by Biden’s lax immigration policies and the fact that he has been basically begging migrants to come to the border for over a year.

The border was under Trump’s influence, but when Biden took office, the crisis erupted.

Biden “can’t afford to neglect” the issue at the US southern border, CNN’s John Avlon said Wednesday night, adding that the administration’s shift in immigration policy played a major role in the crisis.

According to Avlon, the Biden administration is dealing with a “humanitarian crisis” for which they are responsible.

“Apprehensions at the southern border are at an all-time high. In the month of February alone, over 100,000 people were killed. “Nearly 9,600 children were involved, many of whom were not accompanied by adults,” Avlon said.

“The recent increase started in Trump’s final months in office, but it’s accelerated after Biden took office. “While the border is not open, it is safe to say that Biden’s reversal of a Trump policy that required asylum seekers to wait on the Mexican side of the border has led to the rise,” he added.

Children held in an overcrowded government-run tent facility at the US-Mexico border complain they haven’t been able to shower in days or contact their parents, according to a new CNN report published on Monday.

Some children only get to shower once a week, and when soap runs out, they are left with only shampoo, she explained. Welch was told by one of the children that she hadn’t showered in six days.

The situation is so severe that Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has asked DHS employees to “volunteer” to help deal with the “overwhelming” number of migrants at the border.
