According to US media accounts, the interrogation lasted up to eight hours. Unlike previous witnesses questioned before the committee, according to the panel’s senior chairman, Ms Trump never attempted to use her right to remain silent.

“She is responding to questions,” Rep. Bennie Thompson stated. “Not in a broad, conversational sense, but she is responding to inquiries.”

President Biden’s White House confirmed that it will waive executive privilege in the case of Kushner and Trump.

“The president has spoken about how Jan. 6 was one of the darkest days in our country’s history and how we need a complete accounting of what happened to guarantee it never happens again,” Biden communications director Kate Bedingfield told reporters last week. “And he has made it quite clear that they posed a unique threat to our democracy and that executive privilege should not be used to conceal facts about an attack on the Constitution from Congress or the public. As a result, the White House has chosen not to invoke executive privilege in connection with Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump’s testimony.”

While Kushner was returning from a trip to Saudi Arabia and was not at the White House during the riot, Ivanka Trump was.

Mr Kushner’s evidence, according to one Democratic member of the committee, was “useful” in reconstructing the events of the day.
