Republican Sen. Thom Tillis’s Super PAC paid more than $300,000 to air an ad against fellow North Carolina politician Rep. Madison Cawthorn, who is up for re-election in 2022. (R).

In the video commercial titled “Madison Cawthorn’s Lies,” a super PAC linked to Tillis released the ad on YouTube on Thursday. The cable will also show the advertisement.

The ad reads, “Madison Cawthorn lies for the spotlight.” When it comes to Cawthorn, you can count on him to tell you the truth about anything.

“According to a report filed with the Federal Election Commission, the state of North Carolina spent $310,000 on the ad. Initially, Axios reported the ad acquisition on its website.

For his inflammatory comments on a podcast, Cawthorn has come under fire from Republican colleagues. He claimed that in Washington, D.C elitists want you to “come to an orgy” and consume cocaine at parties.

Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said Cawthorn should “turn himself around” after hearing the news.”

Amid Russian aggression against the former Soviet state, he dubbed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “a thug.”.

This attack ad on Cawthorn, a 26-year-old freshman legislator, comes as he faces a number of primary opponents who see him as vulnerable in his home state.

In the primary against Cawthorn, Tillis endorsed state senator Chuck Edward (R). It’s unfortunate that Madison Cawthorn “has fallen well short of the most basic standards that Western North Carolina deserves from their lawmakers,” Tillis said in a statement released in March.
