GOP Rep. Fires Back at Pelosi: Brings Up Role in Jan. 6 “Security” of Capitol Building

Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Democratic Party congresswoman, has become a lightning rod for criticism. Greene has been embroiled in a long-running feud with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, to the point that Speaker Nancy Pelosi has launched a “investigation” into Greene’s conduct for alleged ethics violations.

When Greene and AOC were leaving the House chamber on Wednesday, the feud was reignited. Greene is said to have screamed twice, “Hey, Alexandria!” Greene pursued Ocasio-Cortez and launched into a tirade against the “radical socialist” and her support for Antifa, a militant extremist organization dubbed “terrorists” by Greene.

Greene yelled, “You don’t care about the American people!”

AOC did not respond right away, but she did issue a statement via her spokesperson Lauren Hitt.

“Representative Greene attempted to start an argument with Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez, but as she tried to walk away, Representative Greene screamed and called Rep. Ocasio-Cortez a terrorist sympathizer.”

“We hope that leadership and the Sergeant at Arms take concrete measures to make Congress a secure and civil place for all Members and staff, especially when many offices consider reopening. Owing to Congresswoman Greene’s attacks, one Member has already been forced to evacuate her office.”

Speaker Pelosi also added to the commotion with her own statement.

“This is beneath the integrity of an individual serving in the United States Congress and is a source of trauma and fear among members,” Pelosi said, “especially on the heels of an insurgency, which the minority in the committee denied ever happened yesterday.”

When it comes to Congressional behavior, Pelosi should realize that AOC isn’t exactly the model of civility.

Ocasio-Cortez led an environmental extremist sit-in outside of Nancy Pelosi’s office in November 2018. She threatened, “We’re busting down the window.”

Marjorie Taylor Green, the House Sergeant at Arms, has retaliated with a statement calling for an investigation into Pelosi’s involvement in intentionally weakening the House.
