The Hamburg-based group stated: “assisted suicide and the preliminary examination of a patient’s ability to make decisions freely implies physical closeness between people. However, that is precisely the precondition for the spread of Covid.”
In February 2020, Germany’s best court overturned a ban on giving euthanasia as unconstitutional.
Many German regions have placed strict curbs, banning the unvaccinated population from most public places.
Only vaccinated and recovered people could enter restaurants, museums, and similar venues. The unvaccinated couldn’t enter these facilities regardless of having a negative C-19 test.
Saxony and Bavaria have canceled all Christmas markers. German Chancellor Angela Merkel told her party that this way of C-19 in Germany was the worst so far and asked for stricter measures.
Jens Spahn stated that “by the end of this winter, everyone in Germany will either be vaccinated, recovered or dead.”
These statements happened when the seven-day infection rate per 100,000 broke a record on Wednesday, having a 404.5 mark.
The German Euthanasia Association shared that they are only following Merkel’s 2G restrictions. The restrictions permit activities for vaccinated and recovered populations only.
Everyone has the right to self-determined death, except the unvaccinated population.

On November 19, Verein Sterbehilfe, the association for euthanasia, which is legal in Germany, updated its Code of Ethics to state that those wishing to die will need to get the COVID vaccine first.

Verein Sterbehilfe — the German Euthanasia Association — recently announced it will not help unvaccinated patients kill themselves. Now anyone seeking assisted suicide must submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination first.
“Euthanasia and the preparatory examination of the voluntary responsibility of our members willing to die require human closeness. Human closeness, however, is a prerequisite and breeding ground for coronavirus transmission,” the association said in a statement. “As of today, the 2G rule applies in our association, supplemented by situation-related measures, such as quick tests before encounters in closed rooms.”
German Chancellor Angela Merkel recently announced “2G” restrictions that allow leisure activities only for individuals who are vaccinated or who have recovered from COVID-19. The rule applies in every area where more than three per 100,000 inhabitants are hospitalized with the virus.
“Some would say this is cynical, but probably by the end of this winter, pretty much everyone in Germany will be vaccinated, recovered, or dead. That’s the reality,” Health Minister Jens Spahn said at a press conference in Berlin last week.

The limits on those able to access euthanasia care also come after top figures in German healthcare warned of a national lockdown.
Professor Lothar Wieler, head of Germany’s federal disease control agency, said: “We need a massive contact reduction immediately.”
He added that politicians should block mass gatherings and discourage people from mingling outside their households.
He said: “We are at a crossroads. We have one choice.
“Either we choose the road that leads to chaos and to a bad end … or the one which unburdens the health system and maybe enables a peaceful Christmas.”
Germany’s disease control agency, known as the Robert Koch Institute, registered 44,401 new cases of coronavirus on Sunday, with the 7-day incidence rate hitting a record 446.7 per 100,000 residents.
Further fears are being fuelled by the emergence of the new Omicron variant, first identified in South Africa, which early data suggests the new variant has a higher reinfection risk.
Two cases of the new Omicron variant have been registered in Germany, with another suspected in the Hesse region.
Hesse’s Social Affairs Minister, Kai Klose, tweeted on Saturday: “The sequencing has confirmed the result – the suspected case which was made public yesterday morning is the Omicron variant.”
The new variant was reported to the World Health Organisation on Wednesday, and has been classified as a variant “of concern.”
