According to a new FBI study, there is “scant evidence” that the January 6th Capitol disturbance was part of a larger scheme to reverse the 2020 election results, which is a major setback for the Democrats’ objective.
“At this point, the FBI believes the violence was not centrally orchestrated by far-right groups or prominent supporters of then-President Donald Trump, according to the people, who have been either directly involved in or briefed on the wide-ranging investigations,” Reuters reported on Friday.

According to the newspaper, “FBI investigators discovered that cells of demonstrators, including adherents of the far-right Oath Keepers and Proud Boys groups, had planned to break into the Capitol.” “However, the sources claimed they discovered little proof that the organizations had real preparations in place for what they would do if they got inside.”
According to Reuters, 90-95 percent of the cases pursued by the DOJ are “one-off cases,” according to a former senior law enforcement official. “Then you have maybe 5% of these militia organizations that are more closely organized,” the former official said. “However, there was no grand plan with Roger Stone and Alex Jones and all of these guys to attack the Capitol and kidnap people.”
President Donald Trump was also found to be uninvolved in the violence, according to the FBI.
According to the Justice Department, more than 170 people have been charged with assaulting or hindering a police officer so far. “However, one source said there has been little, if any, recent discussion among senior Justice Department officials about charging detainees with’seditious conspiracy,’ accusing them of attempting to overthrow the government. They’ve also decided not to press charges of racketeering, which are frequently used against organized criminal gangs.”
