On Thursday, Democrat Rep. Joyce Beatty and a group of far-left protestors descended on the Hart Senate Building, yelling, “End the filibuster!”
Congresswoman Beatty, the chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus, was detained by Capitol Police during the uprising.

Her wrists were zip-tied and she was marched away.

Rep. Beatty was released from prison not long after. Despite this, she bemoaned what she called “double-standard treatment.”
She didn’t have to be concerned about being detained indefinitely without charge or trial. She didn’t have to be concerned about losing her work or being blacklisted in her neighborhood.
Meanwhile, over 20 Trump supporters are still being held in solitary confinement in a DC jail for entering the US Capitol on January 6. Their lives have been turned upside down. Their earnings and reputations are ruined.
This is the American legal system’s double standard.
