Cindy McCain Calls Arizona Election Audit ‘Ludicrous’

Cindy McCain slammed the GOP-backed election audit in Arizona on Sunday, calling it “ludicrous.”
McCain, a popular Arizona Republican and the late Senator John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) mom, appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” and was asked about the audit by host Jake Tapper.

“To be honest, this whole situation is ridiculous. It’s a farce. This comes from an Arizona state party who declined to be audited on votes cast within the confines of their own party communications “Cindy McCain expressed her thoughts.
“The election has concluded. [President] Biden was elected “she continued. “I understand that many of them are unhappy with the result, but elections have consequences. But, you know, it’s not surprising to me that things are aloof and wild out there right now in terms of the election.”
In April, it was announced that the Arizona state Senate had hired Cyber Ninjas, a security consulting firm, to lead a forensic audit of votes in Maricopa County. Biden won Maricopa County, flipping Arizona and winning 11 electoral votes in the process.
Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs (D) has also slammed the audit, calling it a “farce” that should be ended.
“A group of Republicans are still trying to please their base, who refuse to agree that… Trump lost Arizona and is no longer the president,” Hobbs said on CNN last week.
Cindy McCain was also questioned by Tapper about claims that she was being vetted to be Biden’s candidate for US ambassador to the UN World Food Programme, and whether she would consider such a role.
“I’m proud of the work I’ve done for President Obama. I was honored to be able to support him and participate in the campaign. So I’ll… I’d be proud and honoured to serve in whatever capacity he sees fit “she mentioned.
The Arizona Republican Party censured her and former Senator Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) in January for supporting Biden in the 2020 election.
