Chris Matthews Says Pro-Trump Republicans Have Troubles ‘Understand Democracy’

Chris Matthews, a former MSNBC host, resurfaced on Joy Reid’s show on Tuesday, where he condescendingly claimed that Republicans who support former President Donald Trump “understand democracy.”

“In the last few months, what have been the dots on the screen? “Well, you, Mr. President, who claimed that the former president was an illegal immigrant,” Matthews countered.

“He was not the president of the United States. He couldn’t be because he was in the country illegally, snuck in – a ridiculous, terrible, bigoted remark. Now, happily, a past president has called this president illegitimate. Who’s to say he’s not the president? He’s persuaded two-thirds of the Republican Party, Abraham Lincoln’s party, to say that Joe Biden should not be president! It’s grown a lot worse.

Chris Matthews, a former MSNBC broadcaster, resurfaced on Joy Reid’s show on Tuesday, where he condescendingly stated that Republicans who support former President Donald Trump “understand democracy.”

“In the last few months, what have the dots on the screen been? “Well, you, Mr. President, who claimed that the former president was an illegal immigrant,” Matthews retorted. “He was not the president of the United States of America. He couldn’t be since he was in the country illegally and snuck in – a ridiculous, terrible, bigoted remark. Now, happily, a past president has declared this president to be unfit for office. Who is to argue he isn’t the president of the United States? He’s persuaded two-thirds of the Republican Party, Lincoln’s party, to say that Joe Biden isn’t the man for the job! It’s gotten to the point where it’s not even funny anymore.

Matthews then went on to bash Trump’s supporters, the Republicans.

“Do you really want the majority to rule in this nation, if you ask the ordinary Republican who favors Trump? This is a simple question. Do you believe that the majority of Americans should run the country?” Matthews went on. “It’s just a basic democratic vote, isn’t it? Do you believe they will say yes? No, it’s not true. They’ll say, “Let’s minimize the amount of minorities voting.” While we’re at it, let’s lower the number of youthful voters.”

He said, “By the way, Trump knows he lost.” “He was defeated in the Electoral College. He was defeated in Pennsylvania. He was defeated in Wisconsin. He was defeated in Michigan. I’m sorry, Mr. President, but you are no longer Mr. President.
