CNN host Chris Cuomo said that he knows about the sexual harassment assertions against his brother. He cannot cover this scandal!
Governor Andrew Cuomo (63) is accused of sexual harassment of three women. Two of these victims are former aides. Also, he is charged with hiding COVID-19 death data from state lawmakers.
On March 1, Chris Cuomo opened his show with a statement referring to his brother’s situation.
“Obviously, I’m aware of what’s going on with my brother. And obviously, I cannot cover it because he is my brother. Now, of course, CNN has to cover it. They have covered it extensively, and they will continue to do so. I have always cared very deeply about these issues and profoundly. So I just wanted to tell you that there’s a lot of news going on that matters also. So let’s get after that,”
Andrew Cuomo was a guest at his brother’s show last spring, multiple times. They were joking, and among the jokes, there were few questions about Cuomo’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
The picture of the governor was very positive. Even Chris said that he was amazed by his brother and how he handled the whole situation.
CNN didn’t respond to requests for comments.
A spokesperson told the press that there was a ban on Chris hosting Andrew Cuomo, but they lifted it last year!
Currently, the ban is on the force, again.
“The early months of the pandemic crisis were an extraordinary time. We felt that Chris speaking with his brother about the challenges of what millions of American families were struggling with was of significant human interest. As a result, we made an exception to a rule that we have had in place since 2013, which prevents Chris from interviewing and covering his brother, and that rule remains in place today. CNN has covered the news surrounding Governor Cuomo extensively,” – CNN’s spokesperson stated.
The former TV journalist George Brown tweeted:
“But for months during a pandemic with NY having the hugest death toll, they yucked it up nightly,”
Also, people posted screenshots where Chris holds a gigantic Q-tip that the staffers produced, and Andrew Cuomo, his brother, laughed in his 2020 appearances.
The police investigate the sexual harassment claims, and the US Department of Justice investigates the process of hiding the nursing home residents’ deaths due to covid-19.
