The legislature will continue to the Wisconsin Rules Committee and to the Wisconsin Senate bill 743.
Rep. Timothy Ramthun introduced the legislation.
Rep. Ramthun called for a point of order in an open session by using Assembly Rule 43 and asking was his resolution privileged and able to be passed on to the Rules Committee through an open session?
The resolution was privileged. They could do a vote within the session that was currently happening.
And, it was ‘’yes’’, a unanimous vote to move the legislation to the Rules Committee.
Speaker Vos holds everything. However, we don’t know what the Wisconsin Senate did with it yet.
Ramthun used a rulebook, the Constitution, and was fearless. He stopped the session and said, ‘’ I’m a legislator, and I want you to hear this because that’s what the constituents are asking me to do.’’
The assembly voted on the resolution to have passage to the Rules Committee, and they wanted to get an opinion if they could go forward; they didn’t even have to hear it. It was found privilege, but they didn’t have a choice.
However, the legislation continued to the Rules Committee. It’s now on another level, still alive. It’s not a done deal, but it’s the first time in Wisconsin history that a state Representative has moved to reclaim Wisconsin’s ten electoral ballots.
