PM Mette Frederiksen announced in a press conference: “Tonight we can shrug our shoulders and find the smile again. We have incredibly good news; we can now remove the last coronavirus restrictions in Denmark.”
Frederiksen emphasized that even though they have high infection rates, the number of people who got seriously ill has lowered.
Health Minister Magnus Heunicke shared the numbers of Denmark hospitalizations, saying that it has 46,000 new cases per day, and only 40 people were in intensive care units.

Denmark Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has announced that the European nation will end nearly all of its pandemic restrictions on February 1, despite other European countries extending restrictions.
“We say goodbye to the restrictions and welcome the life we knew before” the pandemic, Frederiksen said, according to the Associated Press. “As of Feb. 1, Denmark will be open.”
The prime minister also addressed the contrast between infection rates and the decision to return to pre-pandemic practices.
“It may seem strange that we want to remove restrictions given the high infection rates,” Frederiksen said. “But fewer people become seriously ill.”

Newsweek reported:
Restrictions currently in place are for the public to wear masks on public transportations, in restaurants, in shops, and people entering healthcare facilities and retirement homes, according to the Associated Press. However, following the February 1 change of restrictions, masks will only be required in hospitals, healthcare facilities and homes for the elderly.

England has scrapped covid passports and face mask requirements.
Ireland has removed most of their restrictions.
