The young, 21-year-old father from Wichita must be out of his mind right now, supposing to raise a son all by himself, after losing his lovely young wife in a tragic car accident, which was a consequence of robbery.

According to the original report published by KSN

“The infant’s mother, 22-year-old Samantha Russell, was killed when a vehicle driven by a robbery suspect collided with her car at Central and Ridge Road on Tuesday, July 6. The robber was being chased down by police.

The first responders could not save Samantha’s life, but they delivered her son, who entered the world in perfect health.

Samantha’s husband, 21-year-old Brandon Russell, posted the heartwarming moment he embraced his newborn, Mac, on Facebook.

“Words cannot explain or express the emotions going through everyone’s head today in light of the events that took place on July 6, 2021, at around 5.30 CST,” Russell wrote. “Sammy was taken from us, but left behind the most beautiful gift of life.”

Samantha was in her Mazda CX3 standing at a stoplight inside the left turn lane from southbound Ridge Road to eastbound Central as the suspect crashed into multiple vehicles, including hers.

“Samantha was going to be a fantastic mother. She always had everything planned out and ready to go. She was driven and the hardest worker I knew. She always ALWAYS knew what to say when I was going through an issue or needed advice. She was the best person to know,” Russell’s post continued.

A GoFundMe account was created to help the family with funeral, medical, and baby expenses.

“She really was all about her family. All about, you know, starting this family with her first kid with her husband here, and you know that was her goal,” said Jordan Wuest, Samantha’s broker and organizer of the account. “She was in a military family constantly moving around, and so she was excited to add some stability to her life.”

Officials said the tragedy started after two suspects were involved in a heist at a hotel in the 7500 blocks of W. Taft. One of them fled northbound in a 2003 Dodge Ram pickup as the police detained the other.

An initial pursuit ensued but was called off quickly.

“Our officers turned around to pursue, but it was quickly disregarded,” said Capt. Paul Duff, of Wichita Police Department. “Our officers then turned around and went back to assist the other officer who took the original robbery suspect into custody.”

The driver is a 37-year-old, later identified as Javan Jermaine Ervin. He has been detained and he already has some pretty “stainy” criminal record, from first-degree murder to criminal possession of firearms.
