According to the Arizona Capitol Times, more information on Navarrete’s charges will be released on Friday.
Navarrete, 35, has been a member of the state senate since 2019 and previously served in the House of Representatives, representing Legislative District 30. He is also the deputy director of Promise Arizona, a community-based NGO.
His arrest comes after he announced last week that despite being vaccinated, he tested positive for COVID-19.
