He was young, only in his 20’s! Seeing such a young life lighting out is sad, despite the fact he was a prisoner.

According to New Jersey,
“Jerry Crawford, 25 years old, was released from South Woods State Prison due to COVID-19 health concerns in November 2020. Two days later, he murdered an 18-year-old.
Crawford was serving time for burglary. On November 4, he was released to parole supervision on “public health emergency credits.” He was originally set to be released on December 24.
On November 6, 2020, Crawford allegedly killed 18-year-old Davion Scarbrough, who was shot multiple times and left to die in a field near a dirt path.
Crawford’s accomplice in that shooting, Yusuf Waites, had been released from Garden State Youth Correctional Facility just under a month before. Waites, 23 years old, had just completed his sentence related to a gun charge.”

“Crawford and Waites had reportedly been seen on surveillance video with Scarbrough at the Burlington Manor Apartments shortly before his body was found, which happened to be about half of a mile from the prison Crawford had been released from.
Crawford and Waites were both indicted on charges of first-degree murder and first-degree conspiracy to commit murder.
Additionally, Waites was indicted for attempting to kill two other men, along with eight other suspects, in a case that involved another murder, a drive-by shooting, and a gun battle in broad daylight.”
