But why this all of a sudden?
McCarter, one of the leading people of this separation movement, reported that they’re unhappy with Governor’s Kare Brown restrictions regarding the COVID 19 situation and the state’s prioritizing over Portland, besides the
Antifa-related violence that occurred.
“Oregon is a powder keg because counties that belong in a red state like Idaho are ruled by Portlanders,” said Mike McCarter, president of Move Oregon’s Border.
Along at his side, there are Baker, Grant, Lake, Malheur, and Sherman counties in Oregon.
The decision-making process is going to last until this May. Until then, they have to decide if they want to move forward with moving the state’s border, he said.
“It is not a vote to secede from Oregon because a county can’t do that – it’s a measure that says, ‘County commissioners, your citizens of your county want to see you work towards this process.”
But, there are particular apparent obstacles in the way. Here’s the process: the Assembly and Senate of Oregon’s State would first have to approve -then, if that happens, the U.S. House and Senate would have to approve the approval. That will be extremely hard – almost impossible since they’re both in firm control of the Democrats.
